In my previous blog, I’ve shown how to create a dramatic glow effect in Adobe After Effects. Today, I’ll show you how to create a cute brush stroke animation in Adobe After Effects. Why? So that you can add your own flair to your title.
What Is A Brush Stroke Animation?
Well, you can create a brush stroke by Adobe Photoshop, or Adobe After Effects. But today I’ll do this animation in after effects. Not only the brush stroke, but I’ll also show you how to add multiple colors to this animation. So that, your animation catches more eyes.
Mainly, By brush stroke, you can give your titles or written contents an effect that reminds you of the effect of the brush. Many famous YouTubers, bloggers, vloggers, companies use brush stroke animation in their advertisements. Do you know why? Because it looks really really beautiful. Although it’s different from the glow effect. Still, it has its beauty. Also, you might have seen this animation in wide sectors. What I think is although we see it every now and then learning how to create it doesn’t hurt. Does it? I guess not. So let’s get started to learn brush stroke animation. And don’t forget to read till the end. Because I’ll show adding colors to it too!
How To Create Brush Stroke Animation:
I’ve tried to write it as reader-friendly as possible. But if there’s anything you don’t understand, that’s completely okay. Just comment below.
Step-1:
All you need to do to do this animation is to sit in front of your computer and take deep breath. Wait, what? Yes, sit back and relax. That’s what I meant. Open Adobe After Effects . You’ve got this.
Step-2:
Now, you can do your brush animation on a shape layer or on the background. If you choose to do it on a background, make sure the color is dark. Or the background color is matched with your stoke color fills. Otherwise, your animation won’t look too good. Here, I choose to do my work on a shape layer. And, now I’m writing Clipping Amazon. Because I want my brush stroke animation on this. You can write anything of your choice.
Step-3:
Now, choose the pen tool. And now the real work begins. Because you need to make little paths around the text. Remember, this part is really really very important. Because your whole animation depends on it. So do it very slowly. Each path will be individually different and each path will create a mask to the text layer. Once the path or the masking is done, you have done half of the job already.
Step-4:
Now selecting the text layer, click on the ‘Effect’ from the menu bar, then ‘Generate’ and ‘Stroke’.
Step-5:
Now, on the effect control panel, click on the ‘All Mask’ and make it ‘Transparent’. Okay, don’t panick to see the terrible condition of your text. Because its gonna be okay.
Step-6:
Now toggle the mask as I’ve shown on the video. Make the ‘End’-0% without toggling the keyframe.
Step-7:
Now toggle the keyframe of ‘Start’ into 0%, move the blue bar in 6 seconds and make it 100%. Make the hardness 100%. It looks terrible, know, but it’ll show magic at last.
Step-8:
Now increase bush size as per your choice. Your brush stroke now is looking okay now. Right? Press ctrl+D & come to the bottom Layer.
Step-9:
Now delete all the masks and strokes. And set it Alpha. And there you go! The basic brush stroke is done! But I promised to show how to add multiple colors to it, so here we go.
Step-10:
Select both text layer, and tap on ‘Layer’ from the menu bar and choose ‘Pre-compose’. Now press ctrl+d.
Step-11:
Now select the upper layer and tap ‘Edit’, ‘Generate’ And ‘Fill’. You can select color of your choice.
What you need to do next is to duplicate the text layers and add fill to different colors. Then, you can move the layer bars back and forth of your choice. And it will look like this.
So, congratulations! You’ve done another brushstroke animation in after effects triumphantly! And look at the colors running inside the stroke! Isn’t this amazing? I know my after skills suck, but I try to show these because I know there are many newbies like me. So, they can be helped by my blog.
